I wonder who owns this little yellow Vespa? How many wonderful buildings does it pass each day? Scooting around the medieval lanes close to Centro,  then onto larger streets, passing decadent villas and the tree topped towers of the Giunigi. The ghost of Elise Bonaparte waves an imperial hand and the sounds of Puccini echo as musicians and singers practice tonight’s performance.  A quick run out to the ancient walls of the city for some fresh air or maybe to meet il ragazzo under a chestnut tree, then a meander back, down to the long weekly market just below the walls. Perhaps it’s time for a coffee in the Piazza di Anfiteatro before heading home for lunch.

When it comes to looking hip and youthful(one can argue on this point) there’s only a few brands in the world that can do that for you. Well at least that is what we think, in this case; the brand Vespa definitely fit the frame for a brand that is hip, fashionable and cool. So enough introduction for now, recently; Vespa Malaysia under the management of Naza Premira Sdn Bhd launched their new model of Vespa to the Malaysian market.

Through 68 years of evolution, Vespa has always found class in simplicity and stayed true to its core and original vintage flair. The Vespa LT 150 is powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder 3-valve engine with electronic fuel injection, a new bore and stroke and friction-reducing crankshaft. This newest version of the Vespa LT 150 retains the unique Vespa Design DNA, has been subtly enhanced and combined with the latest Piaggio…

A few years ago, smart (no caps, please) announced it would offer an electric scooter by 2014. Uh, that didn’t happen. However, another rather similar concept electric scooter recently debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

All the leaves are brown, and the skies are gray. And rally season has wound down for another year. The Soldiers of Destiny SC made the scene in Victoria earlier this year, and documented the weekend in a great video, which you will find after the jump.

Second only to “SCOOTERS ARE DANGEROUS!” is the spontaneously expressed belief held by non-scooterists that “YOU CAN’T CARRY ANYTHING ON A SCOOTER.” Friend Morgan would beg to differ.

Scomadi Turismo Leggera 300 (Scomadi U.K. Ltd.)

On the heels of U.K. scooter maker Scomadi announcing the beginning of production (in China) of the 50cc version of its Lambretta-inspired scooter comes word that dealers have been appointed in the United Kingdom.

Needless to say, this has the international scooter universe buzzing about when sales might begin in continental Europe and the U.S. While the company has not announced what plans it might have along this line, I’ve had some thoughts about what I’d do if I were Scomadi, which you can see after the jump.

It’s 22 scooters. It’s 3,487 miles. Over 10 Days. It’s the Scooter Cannonball Run… a “timed endurance event”. And back in 2010 they shot  a movie… a documentary that attempted to capture the insanity of the event by follows the scoots ( a swarm of Vespa’s, a Honda Ruckus and Yamaha C3 and Starr – pictured above – on her ’67 Lambretta) from Vancouver too Maine.

And they’ve been working on the movie for the last four years. Working through over 300 hours of footage, shot with 7 cameras. This has been a passion project for the filmmaking team, and, up until now, has been entirely self financed. Finally, the movie has begun to near completion, and now the team has turned to crowdfunding, via Kickstarter, in order to raise finishing funds.

I know it’s a movie I’d like to see. And we can help make it happen. If it’s something you’d like…

The Gulf Racing colours of pale blue and bright orange are a classic and recognisable combination that work so well together.  I’ve seen them on many vehicles, from Porches to Beetles, Mini’s, bikes and a fair few scoots over the years. But I think this is the first time I’ve seen them on a Lambretta sidecar combination.  In my ever so humble opinion, it works. And it’s for sale on eBay. The scooter (a GP 150) has been upgraded to with a GT 186 kit, so should pull that Watsonian along nicely. It’s on eBay here. But be quick, the auction ends today.
