In 1952, Georges Monneret Built an “Amphibious Vespa” for the Paris-London Race and Successfully Crossed the Channel

In 1952, French motorcycle racing champion Georges Monneret leaving Paris, France for for Calais, where he was met with a crew who installed a pair of custom pontoons to scooter. It was an amphibious craft powered by a 1952 125cc Vespa Douglas. From there, Monneret went about crossing the famed English Channel aboard the waterborne scooter.

Scoot Networks plans expansion of electric scooter rentals to Barcelona

Electric scooter rental company Scoot Networks is making its first foray out of San Francisco and expanding to Barcelona, Spain, next year. The company, headquartered in the South of Market area, owns a fleet of red electric scooters that can be rented in half-hour increments for $3 to $5. The distinctive mini-vehicles can be seen all around San Francisco, parked along the street in residential areas or zipping through the city’s often-congested streets. Scoot Networks has a few employees in Barcelona and is hiring several more, said Stephen Rodriguez, vice president of growth.
