The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride

This year will be a great year for this charity event. Last year they had over 80 registered riders and this year they expect more. They definitely welcome all riders to help with Prostate Cancer and it’s a chance to dress up and have fun. If you are interested, register now to ride and begin getting sponsors. If you don’t want to ride or aren’t interested, please feel free to share a little money for the charity using this link!

The Crooked Mile(s)

grounds4coffeelayton2015Our next ride is planned for this coming Sunday. We will be starting in Layton at the Grounds for Coffee at Cherry Lane in Layton and riding to Farmington. Normally, this is a straight shot on Highway 89 but our plan is to twist and turn our way through Layton and Kaysville before arriving at our destination. This twisty path shall give us a fun and crooked way to get to a fascinating finish….think a hole in the ground.

We will be meeting at 10:00 AM Sunday the 7th of August. We are also planning another ride later in this long month. We look forward to seeing you all!

Mountain Meadow Meetup

While there are three days of activities and rides for the Mountain Meadow Rally, as a club (and a sponsor of the event) we would love it if everybody can attend as much as possible. However, everyone should make the 3:00 PM meetup at the Bohemia Brewery. Not only do they do the Gymkhana but there is a great raffle and the food at Bohemian is great. We are still determining how many plan to ride to the event, home many will drive and how many will do a hybrid. I will be sending an email out to see what’s what but we hope as many TBSC members can attend at least the last day!

Awesome Ride

Today marked our June ride and it was a lot of fun. We started out in Ogden at our normal Union Station home and had six riders arrive. Two of our guests were new members with a vintage PX and vintage Honda Elite. Also, we were honored to have one of our SLC members come up to Ogden. Our ride took us to the west side of the town up north and we then took a lovely ride up the canyon to go to the Oaks. However, they had an hour wait so we went back down to Karen’s Cafe to finish the ride. It was a great time overall and at the end of the day, we did close to 50 miles of riding!Sunday June Ride

High Rollers Reservations Open

Yeah, it seems kind of early (really early) but they have opened up the reservations for the Downtown Grand for next year’s rally February 23rd-27th, 2017. This is definitely the premier scooter event in the US with great rides, large attendance and excellent organization. We are lucky to be a trailer ride away and you should really attend. Here are the details:

The British will be joining us for yet another year in Sin City for High Rollers Scooter Rally. They enjoyed the Old Downtown/Fremont Street in 2015, as we have for a number of years, so it is hard to beat this area as our rally location. Each year there are new places to visit, with the downtown continuing to grow and change.

The Vegas Rally will be hosted again at The Downtown Grand Casino, as they have treated us very well and have been one of the best hotels we have landed in over the past 15 years. This beautiful hotel has offered an amazing room rate and is just large enough for the rally to take over most of the hotel. Inside and surrounding it are many new and interesting bars and eclectic eateries, no matter what your preferences are.

The High Rollers Weekend will include the required scooter ride outs, vendor stalls, meet and greet and all-nighters. All the events, bands and some of the best international DJ’s will be announced nearer the time, so keep checking Facebook and www.LVScooterRally.com for updated info.

We have an amazing room rate of only $45 per night W/Th/Sun/Mon and $99 Fri/Sat. To book the hotel, ring them at 1-702-719-5100 and request High Rollers rate (CODE: 170222HIGH). Best to call after 6pm UK time. Online booking will be available at http://www.downtowngrand.com/ Only 300 rooms have been set aside, so book early. Hotel will require 1st night rate as a deposit and balance at check out. Stated rate does not include NV 13% sales tax and reduced resort fee of $9 per night.

RESORT FEE WARNING – Most hotels in Vegas add a resort fee which covers Wi-Fi, Comp coffee/water, self parking, discount books, etc. These fees can range from $20-$35 per night. We have negotiated a great deal and reduced fee from $22.34 per room down to only $9 per room per night. BE AWARE if looking at other hotels, it may look a bargain but the fees will make it not. Online travel booking sites often hide these fees until it is too late. So please support the rally and stay where the atmosphere is.

Rally Pre-registration will be opened in November, buy your rally pack and shirts then. Hoodies will be PRE-PURCHASE ONLY!!!! You can also buy rally packs on the Friday 4-6pm (2/24/17) and Saturday morning for late arrivals.

New Member

Ok..so we did get three new members we are excited to have join our club!!! However, the new member I speak of is my new 1968 Vespa Sprint VLB. It’s a 150 bored out to 190 and it’s a blast to ride. I picked it up this week and have been riding every day. It’s such a different experience to riding my LX. Still, I am tickled to have two Vespas and also, the chance to have a vintage bike!

This poor lady had an accident on her scooter. Sadly, while in the hospital recovering from her injuries, the towing company auctioned off her Vespa. She was incapacitated and her friends did make a concerted effort to get her bike. However, the process of dealing with towed items in Seattle moved too quickly for their local club to rescue her Vespa. Imagine waking from an accident only to find that your beloved scoot has been sold. I made a $50.oo donation in the name of the club but you are welcome to show your support!

Spring Day!

Today’s ride was lovely with bright blue skies and pleasant temperature for scootering. We began at Farmington Station and rode out to the Shoreland Nature Preserve. Lunch was at MacCools in Layton. What a great way to spend the first day of Spring.
