An impromptu ride

When we checked out the weather last night, a few of us decided that it might be fun to do an impromptu ride around town  this morning and get a cup of coffee together. Some texts flew around and we managed to get five Two Bitters together to for an early (9 AM) Sunday ride.

While it was very short, it was still great to get out on the scooter on a beautiful morning with the leaves decorating the road, a little bite of cool in air and the sun creeping through the clouds.

Don’t forget the October 16th Antelope Run!!

Scooter Repair – Scooter Focus – All about Scooters

Here is a nice resource if you are considering doing your own work. There are a lot of details for all brands of scooters. I especially like that there a number of categories answering really important questions about scooter purchases, types and issues. While there are a ton of good resources for Vespa products, it’s nice to find a site focused on other brands.

Great day for Gentlemen

TBSC and about 70 other riders enjoyed a beautiful day riding on the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.  This charity ride supports research into prostate cancer.  We hauled the bikes down to SLC and parked just above the state capitol building. Riders of all types showed up in their “Sunday Best” to ride through Salt Lake City.

We had a wonderful cruise around the top of the city and then rode to Liberty Park where everyone gathered to have some refreshments and check out all the fun and different bikes. There weren’t a lot of scooters at the rally but a lot of riders came over to visit us and made a lot of positive comments about our scoots. We even passed out a few buttons and got an enthusiastic response.

In all, it was a great ride and a great day. It could only have been better if we had a few more Two Bit members to share the experience with!!

One of the great joys of scooter riding is the discoveries you make when just deciding to go ride. Unlike a car, you aren’t insulated from the surroundings. You feel and see everything. More important, side trips to the market are slightly limited by the amount you can carry. Josh here takes a trip on his 50cc scooter and shares his fun adventure!

Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride Update

Received this yesterday from the DGR

Gents and Ladies,

The Gentleman’s ride is just around the corner and we’re gearing up for this Sunday. Reminder, we meet at noon across the street from the Capitol building and roll out at 1:00 pm. Here’s a few items we need to go over:

  1. We are still in need of a few good men or women EMT’s to help cover our six. If you happen to be an EMT or know of any who can help us out for a few hours this Sunday, please have them email me directly at u2umotojc@gmail.com
  2. For whatever reason the google route map keeps rerouting, so make sure to follow your ride Captains which will be assigned to each group. Worst case scenario, just meet at one of two meet up points which are 1, the State Capitol, 2 Liberty Park and 3, The RUIN. We also saved the map image on the rider details page which should help.
  3. Remind your fellow riders that they need to register for the ride at gentlemansride.com, there is a waiver that needs to be agreed to in order to join the ride.
  4. We’re in our last week so lets remind our friends and family to donate to the cause, even a dollar donation makes a difference.
  5. Remember this is a charity ride and not a race, so enjoy the ride with your fellow Gentleman and Ladies. At the moment the weather looks to be clear and 70 degrees this Sunday which is awesome.

If you have any questions please email me directly, otherwise we’ll see you on Sunday!

Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride

This weekend is the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride.  If you aren’t familiar with this ride, it’s a charity event held to raise money for Prostate Cancer. The ride is primarily a “classic” ride with an emphasis on vintage styled bikes and scooters.
Salt Lake City is now showing 66 registered riders for this Sunday September 25th at NOON. The ride starts at the capitol and works it’s way through the avenues back to the capitol then circles Liberty Park with a finish in Sugarhouse.
Here are a couple things you need to know:

If you cannot make the ride, please consider donating to the cause. Even $10 helps fund important research. Our club is trying to hit $200!

We hope to see you there!

Provophenia XIV

Hey Two Bit members, scooter activities abound! This weekend is Provophenia XIV and if you feel like you can make the trek to Provo, it’s a good chance to attend another rally. We aren’t making this an official event for the club because of the grand distance. Of course, we support all our scooter brother and sisters down in Utah county and if you do plan to attend, wear your Two Bit patch with pride.

The Long Road to the Long Road

2016-09-10-16-38-04This past weekend was our first ride of the month and things went a little strange. We had a great showing with eight riders and we met in our new clubhouse. Thanks to “Salty Creative” for giving us new home. This great facility is located on 27th Street just above Washington and it has a great vibe for a scooter club. 2016-09-10-11-38-16

If you are familiar with our rides, you know that a few of them have had people experiencing small technical
issues. Well, this ride was no exception. We made a quick stop for gas and Jeff suddenly couldn’t start his bike. The whole club jumped in and we determined he had a dead battery. Jeff ran off to buy a new battery and Brad ran home to grab some jumper cables in case Jeff couldn’t find a battery to fit his bike.

The whole team worked together to get Jeff up and running and once his new battery was replaced, it was working again! We then rode a nice long 30+ mile loop around Ogden taking us to the Bench, the far west side and a winding finish to Wall! Lunch was at Rosa’s Cafe for some spicy Mexican.

Everybody seemed to have a great time! Next month we will be doing our annual Antelope Run! Be sure to join us for this great ride!
