Tech Night – This Sunday

Starting this Sunday, Blue Planet Scooters will hosting FREE (as in…damn, that costs nothing) clinics on scooter tech. Learn about how a scooter operates (no, it’s not a scooter fairy under your seat) and how you can fix your own bike!

Here are details about the “Tech Night”

This month’s tech night is a course on combustible engines! We will cover the basic principles of 2 & 4 stroke engine function.  The presentation will have visual aids and a question and answer at the end! AND A FREE RAFFLE! By attending you will automatically be entered in a raffle to win an awesome prize!

Tech Night is a series we are hosting here at Blue Planet Scooters. Tech night is where a technician teaches a quick course on some type of scooter engine topic depending on the topic selected for that month. These courses are taking place once a month, we do not have a set time of month for each course.

High Rollers Weekend: UPDATE

facebooklogo

Last weekend we had a meeting to talk about the rally and our preparations. It was a great meeting and we now have details to share:

The rally is in 30 days,

First off, we need to know who is going for certain. We have registrations from five us right now. If you have registered and are confirmed you are going, please drop me an email.

We are doing a group shirt so that we can do a few of the events and show our colors. The shirt is cheap and Dustin is helping us locate a screen printer who can do our shirts on demand. Here is a link to the shirt we are ordering:

Order the BR- Black Body with Red in your size.

Once you get your shirt, we will coordinate a pre-rally meeting to drop it off or arrange a pick up so we can get the club name printed on the back.

The Gold Spike Hotel is where the event is being held but there are a lot of hotels very close by that are also available. The Downtown Grand is across the street and is very nice. It’s also important to note that the hotel is merely a starting point. You can stay anywhere in Vegas you like and just ride to the activities. In fact, a lot of the locals just ride in and enjoy events. All events are within walking distance from the hotel.

Wherever you end up, we will be coordinating a few club events. We all agreed we will likely do at least one breakfast and one dinner. We will also go as a group to at least one ride and one party. However, we have to see their official schedule.

Most of us will be arriving on Thursday evening or earlier. We definitely encourage everyone to arrive on Thursday if possible because if the rally follows last year, the first ride is down the strip at night and it is a BLAST!

We are presently full on vehicles but if we get more people confirming they are going, we can coordinate a second trailer. I also have a single bike trailer I can lend to help people get down to Vegas.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I am happy to help.

UPDATE: The events are now posted on the website! Looks like it’s gonna be a blast!

Meeting Postponed

Good morning and happy new year Two Bit Riders,

Today was supposed to be our meeting for the rally coming at the end of February. Sadly, I would like to postpone a week. I received news that a friend of mine passed away and his memorial service is this afternoon.
My sincere apologies but I only learned of his passing last night. Best wishes and we will meet on January 24th at 2:00 PM, I will send out an updated invite with the new time and date.

And to register:

Frosty Ball Ride

Yes, the weather outside is frightful (not really) but riding a scoot is so delightful (yes…that’s true). So there’s really no place to go (except shopping), let er roll, let er roll, let er roll….

Hello friends and riders, we are pleased to announce that temperatures are ascending above freezing and the immediate forecast is for hazy skies. In other words, it’s warm enough to get on your scoot and with no snow or rain in the forecast it means it’s safe.

We will be riding this Sunday afternoon (2:00 pm 12/6) to a warm destination for a warm beverage through the cold. Our final destination remains a mystery but we hope that all will dress appropriately for this winter adventure.

Hope to see you there!

October Images and Upcoming

Yeah, I know. It took a little bit of time to get these posted from our Halloween ride but it’s been a busy month. We took a ride through Ogden Cemetery and had a really great. It’s been a brisk outside but we are all still riding. Early December, we will do our “Frosty Balls Ride” and then we are done until February when we have the “High Rollers Rally.”  We will be meeting in January for pre-rally planning!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Las Vegas Rally – Hotels Now Available.

Time for the hotel announcement — People have been asking for a step back in time and we think this will fit the bill. For those of us who did not die 10+ years ago from the Spike Flu, can have another go at the New Gold Spike. Yes, we will be taking over the whole establishment, both sides of the hotel – The Gold Spike and The Oasis. The bar will be ours for 4 days to drink it dry. And we will have the whole parking lot for scooters only.
Clearly this will be one of the most intimate Vegas rallies in years. The Spike/Oasis only has 80+ rooms so we will also have rooms available at the Downtown Grand. A cheapskate hotel option will be released next week.
This will be a one time only deal with the Gold Spike, so come meet up with old and new friends and join in on the mayhem, be it nostalgic or first time.

1978 Vespa Rally 200 VSE For Sale

1978 Vespa VSE

We have a person looking to sell a vintage Vespa due to time constraints for wrenching and riding on it.  The owner would be happy to see it go to someone who understands vintage scooters.  This bike was purchased new in 1977 or ’78.  The model is a VSE.  It’s got a 6 volt electrical system.  The owner has put some upgrades on it including front and rear shocks, Malossi 24/24 carb, Malossi 210cc Cylinder kit, tuned exhaust, new chrome and rubber, etc, etc .  It runs very well and is currently licensed.  He has a clean title for it.   If you know any interested parties please ask them to contact him via  text at the cell number below.  He is asking $3000.

Bajaj Bargains

Craig from the club found a couple scooters for sale that he thought members might be interested in:

2006 Bajaj Chetak, 1300 miles. $700

2002 Bajaj Chetak, 3,000 miles  $500

These are great retro scooters, and are both in excellent condition, albeit a tad dusty. He has ridden the 2006. These are Vespa-lookalikes, manual shift scooters with 4 stroke engines, and are being sold by an older couple at a very good price.

We have created a new video page where we will be keeping various videos from our rides and events. You can visit this page at:

Salt Lake City’s Mountain Meadow Mayhem Rally!

I am really pleased to announced that the Mountain Meadow Mayhem Scooter Rally has now opened the doors to registration.

The event is Friday the 17th until Sunday the 19th. The folks at Aggro Street Wear host the event so it’s a cool way to get great scooter gear.
If you have never attended a scooter rally, they are a BLAST and a great way to spend a weekend. TBSC is an official sponsor of the event (We are taking donations for our sponsorship). A few of us will be attending some if not all the rides and showing our banner! We encourage everyone to attend!
