Skinhead Style Skelly

crocodilejock's avatarlambrettista.net

TS1225SkellyBack in the day, the easiest way to “customise” your Lammie, was to take the side panels off, and unbolt anything you could… to create a “skelly”. This, along with bolting on a big bore exhaust was also sone in pursuit of an elusive extra couple of miles per hour…

As with all these things, there are different levels of “getting it right” and this skinhead style skelly has plenty of authentic 70’s style touches… the megaphone exhaust, sidewinder seat and wooden running boards all giving it a the proper skin/suedehead feel.

The TS1 225 lump should give it plenty of poke, with a hydraulic front break to bring it to a safe stop.

Two Bit Area 51.5 March Ride

To the furthest extreme west of Ogden, a road dead ends into a military installation. These are ominous gates out in the desert to the north of the Great Salt Lake. What is going on out there? Is it another home to alien life?  A government conspiracy? Two Bit Scooter Club used our March ride and our first ride of 2015 to investigate. Check out the video to see what happened.

Ride this coming Sunday!

The weather is wonderful for riding and this Sunday marks our first ride of the year. We welcome all returning club members and of course, any new members wanting to join us. The meetup takes place Sunday March 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Ogden’s Union Station (under the water tower).  We will discuss ride ideas, share thoughts on our time since November and have a lot of fun. All riders are welcome.

Rare Ridgeback, Reduced.

crocodilejock's avatarlambrettista.net

RareRidgeback-4To be honest, I’d never even heard of a “ridgeback” Lambretta before. Luckily it has nothing to do with hard-as-nails Rhodesian dogs, but it’s a rare early TV2. A TV2 that has a weld, or ridge, running down both sides of the frame tube. Apparently this was removed after frame numbers *108… so they’re as rare as the proverbial rocking horse excrement. RareRidgeback-1

This one comes fully loaded with authentic period accessories, and a five digit number plate. It’s just had a grand knocked off the price, hence the headline. And you can buy it on eBay here.RareRidgeback-2

High Rollers Rocks!

This weekend has been amazing with great rides, tons of vintage scoots and a lot of fun parties.

We have been really enjoying the friendly crowd and the opportunity to share rides with a lot of cool scooter people.

We have been passing around a lot of two bit stickers and the response has been awesome. We have also been networking with a lot of other scooter clubs and it sounds like we will see a rally or two in the Salt Lake valley. Wish everyone could come so plan on it next year. It really is worth the trip.

Winter…not so wintery

So…temperatures are getting up into the 60s in the next few days and yes, that means you can ride. I took the ol’ Vespa out for a spin on Sunday morning and installed a kickstand. This week I will be putting the new front crash bars on the bike. If the weather continues to warm, I may organize a ride. Drop me an email if you are interested.

Mark’s Bike has Passed

Today I was informed of the sad passing of Mark’s Chinese wonderbike. Sadly, Mark was rear-ended a couple weeks ago and the bike was totaled. On the good side, Mark is okay, had no serious injuries and is making a speedy recovery. He is waiting for the insurance payout before he buys a new bike.

However, it is with sadness that we mark the passing of Mark’s bike.  This amazing piece of hardware held over 30,000 miles on it and had been pieced together over and over again by Mark’s ingenuity, creativity and technical prowess. We wish Mark our best in finding a good replacement so he can ride again with us this coming Spring!Mark's Dead Bike

High Rollers Weekend

Hello Two Bit Riders,

Winter doldrums getting to you? Are you looking at your scooter in the garage longingly and thinking, when will the frost finally recede? Well, we have a potential solution…
At least two of us are already planning to make a trip down for the High Rollers Weekend and we want to invite anyone else who is looking for a rousing rally with literally hundreds of other riders. According to Facebook, 780 have confirmed they are going! Here are the dates!

February 26 – March 2

We are working on getting the bikes down to Vegas so if you are planning on coming, we may want to pool resources, vehicles, etc.
Please let us know if you are thinking of joining us so we can organize a meeting.

The Little Yellow Vespa of Lucca.

Francesca's avatarALMOST ITALIAN

I wonder who owns this little yellow Vespa? How many wonderful buildings does it pass each day? Scooting around the medieval lanes close to Centro,  then onto larger streets, passing decadent villas and the tree topped towers of the Giunigi. The ghost of Elise Bonaparte waves an imperial hand and the sounds of Puccini echo as musicians and singers practice tonight’s performance.  A quick run out to the ancient walls of the city for some fresh air or maybe to meet il ragazzo under a chestnut tree, then a meander back, down to the long weekly market just below the walls. Perhaps it’s time for a coffee in the Piazza di Anfiteatro before heading home for lunch.
